About Strong Island Films

IN 2014, Rob and Cindy formed Strong Island Films and together their focus has been on true crime. They produced the critically acclaimed documentary “My Uncle is the Green River Killer” for Lifetime Movie Network, “The Real Story with Maria Elena Salinas” for Discovery ID, they brought the hit podcast “UP and Vanished” to the Oxygen Network and “Florida Man Murders”. In 2021, their documentary “Making an Exoneree” has  been hitting the international film festival circuit by storm with 10 nominations and 8 wins for Best Feature Documentary.

Making an Exoneree follows 16 undergraduate Georgetown University students over the course of a semester while they re-investigate wrongful convictions and successfully get one of the men released from prison after 27 years and will be available to stream later this year.

CINDY DORFMANN.

Cindy is an award winning Writer, Director and Executive Producer. Cindy has produced over 200 hours of content for NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL, DISCOVERY ID, OXYGEN NETWORK, CBS, ANIMAL PLANET, DISCOVERY, HISTORY CHANNEL, APPLE TV.  While at Emerson College, Cindy worked for NBC News in Boston . After graduating, she moved to LA where she began working in feature film and television development. Cindy worked on developing several hit television shows including "Bones" and the film "Minority Report". Cindy then began writing and producing for unscripted on the award winning show "Backstory" for AMC. She directed the Emmy winning documentary "Countdown to the Grammy's". She was the Executive Producer on the award winning documentary "MAYAN BLUE" for National Geographic Channel, the Co-EP and field director for "My Uncle is the Green River Killer" for A&E, Cindy also worked as a broadcast journalist for France 24 in Paris, France and produced long form documentaries in the UK for various networks including the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV. 

ROB DORFMANN.

Rob is an award winning Executive Producer, Director, Showrunner and writer who has been responsible for over 400 hours of television programming over the last 15 years for FOX, DISCOVERY, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, MSNBC, A&E, COURT TV, CBS, SPIKE-TV, HGTV, PBS, TLC, TRAVEL CHANNEL, ANIMAL PLANET, G4, MTV, ESPN, TRU-TV, SYFY, DISCOVERY ID, NAT GEO WILD, HISTORY, APPLE TV. Rob has extensive experience with law enforcement and the true crime genre. Rob has interviewed two of the world’s most notorious serial killers: Charles Manson and Gary Ridgeway. One of the original producers for “LOCKUP” MSNBC, “Crime 360” A&E, he co-created “Squad Car Confessions” and “CUFF’D”  for Fox Reality and MTV-Viacom. He won a Telly Award for his first documentary “Journeys to Remember” for the Travel Channel. He also covered the war in Afghanistan for MSNBC months after 9/11 and was nominated for an Emmy on “Sports Science” for ESPN. Rob is responsible for making the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) a household name and was also the executive producer on the highly rated “Human Wrecking Balls” for G4 and “Invention USA” for the History Channel.
